Instead Elenial's Quiver granting unlimited ammunition, how about emulating Elenial herself and allowing any ammunition spent to be recovered? Can always find your arrows, or pull them out of enemies without destroying them. Feels more Midnight-y to me, but I as the ST might grant the player more arrows at a critical moment if they run out and are acting appropriately heroic.

Would you have this as an archer feat?

Even though I've jacked the number of feats available in my campaign, I still think feat slots are too valuable. Was thinking more of a covenant item effect.

Covenant items can grant feats as their power, this way you don't limit this power to this quiver solely, provided the character in question has a feat to use.

Also, unlimited ammo is a lot better, but also more magical. My character had that item in Bleaks campaign, and the unlimited ammo was easily the most powerfull effect I ever unlocked. So you're probably downpowering the item, but if that's not a problem it's a cool new flavourful ability.

I think as a feat, it'd be an obviously magical effect. Arrows that don't break and can be easily found when you miss a shot? Even the elves have to scrounge the battlefield for shattered arrow bits to be recycled. I could see a 2st level spell gathering all the arrows in an area and returning them to the caster intact. 2nd only because it's an area effect and most 1st levels don't' seem to have AoE. Mending is a cantrip so I'd really put this spell at 1st and a half. Make it a bit wider wider area for 2nd and voila. Something like all arrows that were aimed at a target witin Close range, 1 full round casting.

Get to it. Show us a proper spell, description, stat block and all.

Then give it to the quiver in addition to the "your arrows never break and can always be found" effect.

I think it is fine, really, I would only give the arrow away when the character is actually going to fire it, or use it, not ever if he is trying to trade it away or something like that. In any case your idea might work, you could also say it always uses the same arrow, unbreakable, the character fires it, it hits, he puts his hand in the quiver and it vanishes fro where it is and reappears there.

Quite magical, true, but then, it must be the most interesting covenant item i have seen. Grin

Hey!

What if the arrow itself is that's magical? You fire it, it hits or misses. You reach, and there it is again. Whatever arrow is in the target must be some other arrow. Or something.

Well, that is almost what i said. You can make the arrow always eb the same, it carries the blood when drawn, the one that was on the opponent or whatever is repalced by a broken arrow, making it unusable.

That breaks with the name "The Quiver of Elennial" though, and the fact that the quiver is the covenant item.

Don't care about the name or form. Wink It's the effect. The quiver with story is cool. An unbreakable arrow that always comes back is cool too, but it's going to need a little tweaking. I think I like it better if you always have to retrieve the arrow, but you get bonuses to do so should it otherwise be difficult or if impossible, it makes it possible. Writing it up shortly..

Why not allow them unlimited ammo, but justify is by saying 'the reason you have unlimited arrows is that you always go aobut picking them up after the battle - and the quiver you found seems to be helping you do so, ensuring you can always find the arrows, and that they never break against armour'?

What's funny is that in my non-Midnight games, I almost assume unlimited non-magical ammo, just to save time.  It's one of those unspoken rules - if you don't check the pockets of every mook you drop, I won't make you track expenditures for food, inns, minor mundane items, etc.

Just the opposite of Midnight.  "You don't have any food, and when you did, you had to carve it out of rock.  Without tools."
