“Before you is a grisly sight. The band of orcs you were hunting lie on the ground, obviously dead. Deep slashes and penetrating incisions criss-cross their bodies. Many have severed limbs, and the ground around them is drenched in blood. The battle seems to have been at least a day old, and just now the blood is starting to dry. From somewhere close, you hear an unearthly howl.”

Give the players a little bit to get their act together.
Useful items around the scene: 3 Vardaches, 1 Great axe, 2 large shields, 3 torches, 1 Longbow, 4 arrows.
Things of note to spot: There is an area of scorched ground near the front of the “battle ground”

When you feel like springing the beast on them:

“From the woods, a beast bounds into sight. Before you is a wolf, its head is even with your torso, it’s dark mottled fur is missing in parts, revealing the sinew, muscle and bone beneath. Three ribs protrude from its side, the bones breaking skin and sticking out. Its jaw is slightly offset, apparently unhinged on one side. It looks at you with red eyes, that seemingly burn with unnatural hunger.
The beast lets out another growl, and the body starts to contort. It’s snout grows longer, the unhinged lower jaw sagging more. The legs of the beast lengthen and grow talons that seem capable of disemboweling a man in one swing. The body grows in mass, bulking up, forcing the beast into a crouching position. It looks oddly humanoid, like a vulgar reflection of yourselves, twisted by nature, the cruel joke of a God who hates humanity. The beast stands up and lets loose an cry, an unnatural howl of hunger. You can still see the areas, larger now, where parts of the body have fallen off, revealing the underlying bones and gore beneath the fur. The beast stands around 10 feet now, long arms reaching down towards the ground. It reaches up with the back of one paw and snaps it’s lower jaw back into place, It hunkers down looking at you, hungry.”

In GURPS, this is when I call for a fright check. A fear check in D&D might be appropriate. The beast has vulnerability to silver and fire.

Really, I just wanted to use a Fell Werewolf.
Logic Question: If a Fell has to eat its body weight in flesh to survive, and it has a variable weight due to shapeshifting, which weight is used? Because I tend to err on the side of caution, I'm going with super-beefy wereworlf man weight.

Just had another thought:
Can a Fell Were transmit lycanthropy? and better yet, if it kills something, would it rise as a Fell Were?

Sounds like a plot . . .

I would say this creature would have to eat the normal amount for a man, but if he eats only that he starts to fall for the wolf in him, thus opening space for ravages of blood, good text, nice idea, on the transmition thing, i would say he would be able to transmit, but along with it he would be causing some severe disease to the inflicted, he would become a werewolf only if he survives.

Effectivelly this would lead to two situations instead of one, but then, it won't be a common sight, of that i am certain.
