Hiding from Shadow

This is my first draft of a long-time project of mine. Comments are welcome. I'll add more to it later, especially NPCs and places, but for now inspiration has left me.

I'm not done reading yet but I really like it.
I think the Despair-Rules are really cool and I will use them for my round. Its something I needed...there are so much roguish characters and no supplement for them...so thats really cool

Edit :
Well, I have an Objection.
About the reputation. I would say it should give some more opporturnitys to lower your reputation. Like "keeping it low" you know ? Point decreasing for characters who won't do anything for a certain time.
For example 2 months of "keeping it low" would substract 2 points or something.
Especially when you are at a high level the random encounters with pretty low legates don't pose a threat and you can kill 3 lesser legates with no problem...
In addition I would make different reputationpoints for lesser and greater legates. I mean, I would say a group is far more dangerous when they kill greater legates...

Just an objection...

Edit 2 :

Oh and...I think the reputationbonus should only be "granted" if the "inccedent" can be brought up to the PC's
Well...what if there is a killed legate lying in the wilderness of Erenland ? If his head is cut of or/and his tongue is taken out he can not tell who actually attacked him and if the legates can't find out who actually killed the legate this doesn't brings reputation to the PCs ...at least I think so.

Hadn't thought about that. I'll change that. keep in mind though that PCs playing in a campaign won't haver this opportunity.

I never used random encounters in my game, so that's another thing I hadn't thought about.

This is covered by the "enemy HD OR level" entry. So you have "defeating a legate" (+5) AND if the legate is, say 4-6 levels higher than the PCs (+2), which gives a grand total of +7 for only one adversary.

this seemed so obvious to me that I even forgot to mention it. Yes, you're right, that's common sense. As they say: "Not seen, not caught"  Smiley

Ah...and I just noticed that I wrote "objection" 2 times...
Sounds a bit aggressive ...wasn't meant this way "suggestion" would have been a better word Tongue

No problem. I'll try and fix the thing according to your suggestions in the next few weeks (I'm leaving for Portugal tomorrow morning, and will be back by the 18th of September).

As I said, this is only a first draft, so I'm aware it needs quite a lot of polishing. Especially since I'm no rules expert  Grin

I remember some of these articles, their excellent and I like them allot.

Mechanic wise, i like the idea of the Despair, but it seems to me to be a little harsh (i see its based on Corruption from Conan).

As we talk about corruption.

The Fate Points say you can lower your Despair or Corruptionrating..
But I didn't saw any rules for Corruption...did I overread them ?

I thought about using the HoH or the Unearthed Arcana rules for corruption...and fear *lol*

No you didn't. They're part of the (still unpublished) Tome of Sorrows II. For more about that, ask Nif  Wink

Basically, it's a rehash of the Corruption rules from Conan OGL, adapted to Midnight, for channelers who are unafraid to tap into dangerous powers...

I just began to read this impressively long text, and i found it great so far. I especially loved the "Southern Alliance" part, and the organizations description Wink. I'm now reading the thieves part.
I will link this page to other midnighters, i think they will be interested by such a work.
