That's an old Yiddish proverb.

I've talked about it in several posts i believe, but it wasn't final.

Well now it is, and it is why i wasn't around for the past week or so.

I've moved to a new city, one that most of you might have heard about: Theros Obsidia....err... i mean Jerusalem, ohwell and started to work here.

The downside of all this is that i had to stop gaming with with the group of friends who I've been playing with for the past half a year (see Ptolus and Skull & Bones threads) as driving almost 2 hours (each way) after a days work doesn't sound so much fun to me...

But all is not lost. Some of us will be buying Fantasy Grounds and will continue to play that way, including a friend in yet another city (and after a two year drought) is itching for a game. I'll be running a Midnight game, but will not be left out to dry and will also play from time to time. It's not the same as face-to-face, but it sure is better than nothing.

If anyone else said that, it'd be antisemitic Grin

You never know, maybe you'll find a new face to face group in your new abode. Good luck, arn Smiley

Good luck arnon, you could think about making the trip every now and then and spend the weekend on yur old city, then you can have a game and still enjoy the old friends back there. Wink

I'm one of those people who doesn't really have an old city. I lived in Be'er Sheva in southern Israel for 6 years during my studies, and since i returned from my trip i lived in a place called Zichron Ya'acov in the north (with my sister and her family)... i can go back even further but it's a bit of a mess, suffice to say that in the past 11 years in Israel i lived in five different cities.

The group i was playing with, some i met in university and have since then moved, and some have always lived in the area covered between Tel Aviv (center) and Haifa (north). But i will be making the trips. Remember, Israel is a tiny speck on the map, we constantly move around and cross the country without too much thought. And i will return to play with the group (face-to-face) once in a while as a "guest NPC" as the DM likes to call it (already done that several times when i was living in the south).

Jerusalem? I might end up visiting you some day, then! Good luck, and don't blow up/get shot/decapitated/other bad stuff that happens in Jerusalem all the time, because sometimes, we see it on the TV when there's news from the Middle East.

What's your work there anyway?

This can be very true.  I once moved away from all my old contacts and it changed my life.  There's just a new feeling to a new city.  There is a different aura.  I suggest you work on changing yourself a bit too though.  The new place will not do it all Smiley

Heh... talk about "long time ago"

Let's see... in the almost 4 years that passed since that post I moved again this time truly changing my luck.

My time in Jerusalem was a very bad time for me on both a personal and professorial level. About 9 month later i left that job and that city and moved to Tel Aviv. I rented an apartment without knowing how i'd manage to pay for the rent because I had no job then... a day later i got a phone call for an interview and later landed that job. It marked a completely different direction career-wise for me, one that i'm very glad i did.

About two month after that I met the woman I married one year ago Smiley

And yes, I re-joined my friends the moment I moved to Tel Aviv and have been playing with them ever since.

So yes, the luck changed... it just required some more "change of place" Wink
