I put this thread up on any forum I post on (I have a few...)

I was curious if anyone has any Instrumental Metal or Rock songs so I can have some mood music in the background.

I'm not looking for soundtrack songs (as I have a ton of those).  I would love any kind of rock or any genre of metal music without lyrics.

Any takers?

Here are my Metal and Rock songs I know of and have a copy of.

Example Song

* Band - Song Name (Any clarification or description, "If song has a few lyrics")

Here is what I actually have so far:

Slow/Rock/Less Metal/Etc.
----------
* AP2 - Cold Breath of Sorrow (feedback-like noises, light piano)
* AP2 - The End ("I Am The Damage." repeated at the start which is a little annoying, whispers, piano, echoed note, techno metal)
* AP2 - A Thousand Terrible Things (Marching feet, Echoed synth notes, background sounds)
* AP2 - The Pact (Voiced Notes "Ay Eye Ay", vocalizing chanting Native American, Snyth notes & drums)
* Apocalyptica - Angel (Theme song to Joss Whedon's Angel)
* Apocalyptica - The Legend of Zelda Main Theme (Classical)
* Becoming The Archetype - Denouement
* Becoming the Archetype - March of the Dead (gets more metal towards the end)
* Becoming The Archetype - Night's Sorrow
* Dark Tranquility - The Mind's Eye (Guitar, small low voice samples that are hard to understand, drums)
* Ethereal Scourge - Shroud of Mist (slow guitar)
* Explosions In The Sky - Your Hand In Mine (Slow low guitar)
* Extol - Abandoned (Classical with weird noises)
* Extol - Meadows Of Silence (Slow sad accoustic guitar)
* Living Sacrifice - Emerge (some spoken word, monk singing, creepy sound)
* Living Sacrifice - Into Again (Guitar & drums)
* Living Sacrifice - Presence of God (Acoustic guitar, whispers)
* Mogwai - Burn Girl Prom Queen (very quiet start, slow)
* Mogwai - Fear Satan (16:17 slow rock)
* Mogwai - I Can't Remember
* Mogwai - Stanley Kubrick
* Nine Inch Nails - (300 Theme) Just Like You Imagined
* Rush - YYZ (Rock)
* Stavesacre - Minus (rock, with slow intro)
* Symphony In Peril - Beauty Forgotten (a few growled lyrics at the end, "Lets not let the sun go down." I think)
* Symphony In Peril - Perelandra (slow guitar)
* Symphony In Peril - Three Months (slow guitar, "In the game of solitude there is a road.")
* The Black Mages - Dancing Mad (Final Fantasy 6 )
* The Black Mages - Terra In Black (Final Fantasy 6 )
* The Black Mages Nobuo Uematsu - Battle Scene (The synth is a little annoying to me)
* The Black Mages - Vamo Alla Flamenco (Electric guitar, Rock, Flamenco guitar, Snyth, Final Fantasy 9 )
* Tiamat - Diyala (slow, notes played backwards?)
* Tiamat - Four Leary Biscuits (India instruments, woman vocalizing, borders on annoying)
* Tiamat - Kite (slow & sad, bird noises at the end)
* Tiamat - Trillion Zillion Centipedes (Guitar & whispers)

If you don't mind lyrics in foreign languages you could check out the finnish band Finntroll, they growl in swedish so you'd be hard pressed to understand them, I have used them for combats in the past. Their music is sort of black metal, with some elements from traditional swedish and sami music.
Also norwegian death metal band Dimmu Borgir could be interesting, though you miss half the fun if you don't understand the lyrics, they have some tracks that are more ambience than music.

Also, the 300 soundtrack have some tracks that would fit your definition of instruMETAL.

DUDE!  Have you listened to Ramstein??  It is in German, but there are some songs that are just total A&$ kicking, boot stomping battle music.  Great for a group playing the intro adventure in the 1st edition rule book.

Check this out.

one of the characters is the Dorn smith (a 2nd lvl Steel blooded focuses in Hammers) from the town he comes to the town Inn to repair the door timbers and hinges (long story).  He has his hammer with him and a couple of iorn bars.  Evidently the Orcs feel the need to reinforce security at the inn (part of the long story)---the place they get beer and leer at the local dancing girl (who is a healer blooded rogue character)

The Wildlander character was sent to the witches forest to get the timbers.  He has to return the double bladed axe he was given to cut down the trees for the timbers and is at the Inn with his donkey cart squaring logs.

The chaotic neutral (read that to mean do the stupidest craziest thing no one could think of character) is a barbarian specializing in clubs. He is being forced to dig out the pit toilets (another long story)  He has been given a shovel to do it with and is covered in  . . . . S word.  The player is Drunk, he has just found out in real life his ex girlfriend is pregnant and is going to keep the kid.  He is visiting because his house in Florida has been flooded by a hurricane, again in real life.  the Ramstein song "Buch dich!" comes on with blairing gitars metal, industrial machine sounds and drummers beating on things like a lose screendoor in a windstorm.

Now I don't know what it means, but it sounds to american ears a lot like the leed singer blessed with an eccess amount of testosterone is yelling "Fudge You!" over and over interspersed with the synphony of destruction.

The CN character climbs out of the outhouse pits and runs into the Inn covered in  . . . . S word swinging his shovel fully enraged flinging  . . . . S word .... everywhere and attacks the Orcs with his . . .  S-ity shovel.

Realizing everything they have carefully worked for over the past months of real game time has been shot.  The Dorn smith charges in with a digging bar and 10lb hammer, the Wildlander goes full aggressive with his axe.

The dancer looking like pricess leia at the feet of Jabba the hut is throwing mugs, jugs, beer taps whatever she can find at the orcs.

The defender character, who works behind the bar is trying to salvage the trove of resistance supplies burried under the floorboards of the inn, smashes open the beer and wine kegs to put out the fires on the floor being caused by thrown lit kerosine lamps grenading everywhere.  Now the healer is breaking bottles and stabbing with broken bottle necks while trying to use her combat expertise to survive running around a brutal melee in her G-string bikini.

the battle was epic involving the handfull of lower level PC's and the entire towns garrison of orcs.  It burned down half the town once the gnome trader(channeler) got pulled into the frey as well.

All hell breaks loose and all perfectly in tune to the Ramstein cd left by accident in slot 6 of my disc changer.

It was supposed to be Keltic Melodies a 3 dollar bargan bin cd which was supposed to give a Keltic/Scottish flavor that I was trying to create for this town I had painstakingly developed AND now permanantly destroyed Angry----as base of operations for the pc's resistance efforts.

SO THE LESSON IS!

Be darn sure the right music cd is on and man let the metal play and the d20's roll!

Anyone else have something like this happen?

Ramstein or however you spell it is a good suggestion.  I think they have a few songs on the Lost Highway soundtrack too, which I remember liking.

Thanks, I didn't think of them.

Personally not a fan of Ramstien.

That aside how come no one has mentioned Glenn Danzig? Black Aria, and Black Aria II are perfect for virtually any roleplay setting.

Think there are two ms in Rammstein.

U could try an album called Nordland by Bathory. They sing in english, but they have pretty vikingy songs.

Dimmu borgir- Perfection or vanity (Epic instrumental)

Or u could try Nightwish. lol
