Whisper's Will

« on: April 02, 2007, 07:44:28 AM »

Yesterday news was an April's Fools hoax, AtS won't be going anywhere.  Cool

As noticed this kind of prank is traditional among rpg websites, So let us take a little tour through the April's Fools pranks of the related websites now. Yesterday Fantasy Flight Games announced their 2007 release schedule, among it there is a single Midnight hoax: Shadw & Shadow:

Quote
MIDNIGHT CAMPAIGN SOURCEBOOK: SHADOW OF SHADOW
The most detailed book to date on the world of MIDNIGHT, this sourcebook showcases the corrupt town of Blackweir, Izrador's own Dark Legion, and the soul-sucking emptiness of Eclipse Magic. 256 page hardcover book, printed with black ink on black pages.

On ENWorld there was a scoop from Richard Dumbledore on the feared 4th edition, making it a pen & paper MMORPG, for those who wonder how that could be done, a little quote:

Quote
One of out aims with 4e is to make the game easier to understand and of a more uniform quality, so you can sit down at a table anywhere in the world and understand what's going on. To achieve this, we'll be introducing a registration system for DMs, and a ranking system supported by regular seminars and training courses.

Then comes Wizards of the Coast and their list of April's Fools pranks, they would be broadening the D&D licensing by making one special edition product, the D&D-themed There and Then edition of Monopoly, they attempted to use a d20 instead of a d6 for the game but it did not work out, and one all kids would want, your own remote control beholder!, you can see this awesome list of products here.

On future rpg products they have a much shorter list, the first would be a continuation of the complete series, starring The Complete Riding Dog, a book providing everything from feats, prestige classes and spells to rules for a mascot-focused campaign! And the D&D Mini release could be nothing other than the Wooden War Wagons of Wood: The Wheels of War, a set that will include heavily requested figures: the wagon wheel, broken wheel, and wagon on fire.

The Unique and All Powerful Head of Vecna inspired a whole new adventure on the website, this speaks for itself:

Quote
The Head of Vecna is a short (as befits the stature of the head) scenario for characters of levels 1-12, since you never can tell who you can trick into cutting off their own head. You might want a Monster Manual handy for the big fight (of course there's a big fight!). But that's all you'll really need, unless you're a neophyte dungeon master (in which case, I have this head you might be interested in...).

The Avenger Prestige Class is an assassin gone good, without loosing anything... there is the one and eternal Half-Dragon Dragon, Vampiric Plants, Nymph Lich, and a couple of answers to the never asked and unanswered questions we all have about D&D! Including the rhetorical, things that should not be, house rules, Of Mounts, Familiars and Monstrous Forms, Epic Ponderings and the special The Tarrasque category!

Quote
Things That Shouldn't Be

Sometimes questions do have an answer, and that answer is just plain "no". A few cases in point:

    * Gilbert asks: It states in the Player's Handbook that a monk's fists can do up to 2d8 damage. Can one dismember the fists and use them as improvised weapons for the same damage?

    * Kyle asks: How much damage can a vorpal longbow do?

And last but not least there are the easter eggs hoaxes, with the cover of 1t edition's D1-2 Descent into the Depths of the Earth featuring Captain Americaís captured shield and Iron Manís helmet among others.

Now that this day of lies and pranks is out of the way we can get back to our every day schedule!  mrgreen
