The Shadow Falls: Secret Revealed
«

Fantasy Flight Games
announced
the creation of its media division, Landroval Studioes, and the production of
Midnight Chronicles
, a feature film set in the world of Midnight. You can read more about the production on the
Midnight Film
website, but I can tell you this is the very first production of the studio built in 2005 and the movie has been started on April 2006 and is expected to be finished and ready by November. Being 45 minuts long it will also be a pilote episode for a continued series that will hopefully be broadcast in the USA and sold in DVD or some other format.
According to the small information on the film story it is going to be:
Quote
"the epic narrative that tells the tale of two legendary characters, one for the cause of good, the other for the cause of evil. This is the story of their rise, their struggle, and ultimately their fate, as their destinies become intertwined with that of the world and the dark god that occupies it."
There are also trailers (
13 Mb low resolution
,
40 Mb medium resolution
and a forthcoming 150 Mb high resoltuion), hinting at the legate, loss of faith, "covenant places" and featuring a small show of Midnight's basic premise, The Sundering the trailer does not fail to impress. You must have quicktime or quicktime plugin installed to view the trailer, get it for free
here
.
Currently there is no information on the cast or crew of the film but the Gen Con booth will feature a trailer (uncertain if the same) and production documentary that may shed some light on those issues.

It was hard for me at first to wrap my mind around the concept of a full length Midnight movie (thats what i thought it was anyway), there is too much to tell about whats going on and people who are not familiar with Midnight would probably have said: "what the hell, how come the bad guys are still in control??"
A series sound so much better as it will allow characters and a story to developer more than a full length movie could (IMO)... maybe once the series scores a big success and goes on for a few seasons we could have a full length movie.

Could i have it in video format to buy from the web please? pretty please?

For once, I am happy to say that I was wrong. This looks much better than what I was expecting.
Perhaps, if the series is bought by a broadcasting company and becomes a success, we will se a second Rennaissance for Midnight, and new blood to this board. That would be great.

I just watched the trailer to the movie. It has... potential. I'm quite excited to see the final product, even though i don't know
where
i can see it yet.
I say we loyal Midnight fans of many years should have first dibs on having guest appearances in the series!

Well, the low resolution one loaded pretty quickly in my ADSL the other night, i usually cheat on this, i get the lower resolution one and to view it lower my desktop's resolution to the smallest possible (while stil having it all inside the screen), it works well while not asking for ages long downloads.
The project is very very ambitious, but has potential, even though it looks like Xena or Hercules it has up to date technology and none of those screams and supernaturally high jumps and the like. If they have it like that it may very well be a good series with a solid fanbase.
One thing is certain, this is the result of the continued support the fans have given to the line and this site has a lot to do with that, and on another side it will change the setting itself, giving visual references and surely contradicting things now and then. I am happy if it will be another thing to keep Midnight going though.

That's a bold move from FFG, since producing TV shows is a risky business when it's not your main business. This courage deserves respect.
Beyond that, I was quite impressed by the trailer, and hope the whole piece will be of the same quality, allowing for the production of further episodes that link together to form a series. Oh, and a world broadcast!!!
I really hope this works, because it is good work so far, and it has a lot of potential.

The Sci-Fi channel is the most likely broadcast candidate. Considering that the trailer, at least, looks on par with some of the better productions they've put together? I think that if the rest of it looks as good and the acting/plot matches, chances are really good it gets picked up. Which means awesome things for FFG and awesomeness for us.

The trailer at GenCon is that same as the one you see at the site, only in way-cool high definition. Unfortunately due to logisitics reason I was unable to get the interview I was hoping for with Tod Gelle, but I will still be able to get my interview via e-mail. I have to tell you that the hi-def video looks amazing! Theros Obsidia is exactly like the artist rendition on the cover of City of Shadow, only now we get to see it form multiple angles. I'm still very excited about this film.

Wow.
Finally managed to download the trailer (ironically enough, it only took a minute - the other thing I'm downloading makes everything else run so much faster
)
The leaf curling up and dying as Izrador skydived was a nice touch. The fly-by of Theros Obsidia was just
staggering
. The town of Blackweir looked fantastic, all... hilly, and such. Great orc-makeup.
I think I have a mancrush on the guy that plays Mag Kiln

Yeah, the leading actor is very well inside the setting, people on FFG newly created boards for this (opened at 9th of august) are complaining against a lot of things, from what I have seen the actors may not be oscar winning but they convince, much better than the average TV series and the make up and visual effects are superb, I hope to see many more scenarios.
I think the narrator sounded so much like an elf speaking, a dark and defeated ound on his voice. One thing I do think they have not been careful enough is the way scenarios look so clean and without life, the actors, make up all are pretty good but the town looked so devoid of life it looked strange. All in all was amazed and excited with the trailer, now if it ends up with a story as good as it sounds, effects of that quality and make it to TV here in Brazil, then I could ask nothing more.
