I wasn't even looking for it... I wanted to re-look at some Warhammer material.

The "new" addition

I'm not going to read too much into it, but...

Hm. Could be a start, could be nothing. Here's hoping, though.

Hmmmm. I doubt it is just a way of making the old products profitable, looks to me they are working on somethine new for Midnight.

Just a speculation, but given that they do not have a Blue Planet area yet...

Zed's dead baby.... Zed's dead.

They are just selling the corpse to get some extra bucks. It's not a new Edition. It's just the same old 2nd Edition we already have, but now available in PDF format.

I am actually very confident on new stuff, they don't have Fireborn or Blue Planet there and both sold well in their times, also if they ewere just putting their IPs there, there is also Dawnforge, Grimm...

I will cut my hopes if they put those all there Wink

It ahs always been available though, even without their site having the products. They are cheaper now than when I last checked though.

Wow, nice!
It's good news, in any case. Whether FFG would want to prepare people to receive an hypothetical new release of MN 3.0 is pure speculations but I FFG has always been reluctant to work if there is no real future target. The time spend to post the new article, implement it on their website and so forth proves (to me anyway) that something is planned.

Who knows, maybe a new Midnight with the rules of Warhammer 3Ed ...
As long as they flesh up the setting, I'm willing to buy anything they can propose Wink

I will also support Midnight in whatever RPG-friendly format they choose to publish. I think that it would probably be wise of them to have a in-house fantasy RPG, since their other RPG products are under licenses from other IP holders. Now, I also think that it would be best and easiest if they publish Midnight under Pathfinder rules, but they may choose to create their own set of rules, so that they can be independent of other publishers.

A lot of Games find their Supporters on Kickstarter. White Wolf produces Onyx Path (classic World of Darkness) again on KS. Maybe its a chance.

Here's the news article that went with it. Nothing special, just the announcement of PDFs.

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/edge_news.asp?eidn=3687

Notice how they also added forums for it? Grin

Also: Note how the forum is titled "Midnight Second Edition". Second Edition...as if it "Second" matters.

Hmmmmmm.....

Given that there is actually nothing new in the pdf sales other than maybe, the prices (I think they are lower than the last time I checked), I doubt it is just that.

If they wanted to put it on the site just because they have pdfs on sale they would also bring fireborn, dragonstar, legends & lairs and Dawnforge into the site

Hiding from Shadow

« Reply #16 on: November 02, 2012, 09:59:36 AM »

Well, I hope this is the premise for a Midnight relaunch. Two things I'd like to see in such a case:
- a new, devoted, rules-light system that still captures the setting's flavor;
- a ready-to-play long campaign or story arc, providing something that is "ready-to-play" for those (like me) who don't have time for prep or creating their own stories.

I don't think that midnight needs a "rules-light system" you can always tone the rules down, if you want to.

If they go away from D&D - fine - if they stay with Pathfinder - fine too.
I just hope we get to see something new.
About the campaign...I don't know but I don't recall FFG as "campaign heavy"....so I guess we won't see that. (too bad though - I like pre-written Adventures.)

I just want a good campaign, preferably a sort of "Adventure Path". I love Midnight, but have not time to sit down, write stories, create NPCs, etc. etc...

It would be cool to see this republished, updated, revamped, etc.  I don't have all 18 books (between 1st and 2nd) so if they brings those back now, I would love that.  I prefer books to PDFs, but PDFs have their place.

I'd prefer not to see an adaptation to Pathfinder as Midnight is a low magic world, and Pathfinder is very high magic.  If they didn't revamp 3.5 rules to tailor them to the world (which I think would be the best thing they could do), I think something like Trailblazer would probably be a better fit, since it's a bit grittier, yet does a lot of the same things that Pathfinder does, such as folding skills, balancing Core classes, etc.  TB just goes about it in a different way which I think suits MN a bit better.  Things that can't ever leave Midnight are the magic system, the new core classes (Channeler, Defender, Wildlander, Legate), and the language system as they are all very integral parts to the setting.

I add my voice to those that claim for an Adventure Path. It would be awesome to see how a full campaign unfolds in Midnight.

As for the ruleset, even though personally I would prefer for Midnight to remain with D&D I think if FFG brings it back, it would probably be under its own system. It seems coherent with what FFG is doing with their RPGs, and it would "protect" the setting from outside events, such as the previous d20 licence expiration.

Maybe everyone who posted support and/or ideas in this thread should also be posting them on the FFG site's Midnight sub-forum?
