As someone who plays on the Paizo forums, I can see where DH is coming from in questioning whether to move the game to there or not.

It takes a little while getting used to, but once you figure the in's and out's it can be quite useful. The ability to roll your dice is pretty handy and would certainly take some of the pressure off Doomed Hero.

That said, I throw in my vote for keeping the thread alive here. It's unfortunate, but I feel this story is one of the things that is really keeping this site going strong. It would be handy to just be able to click on your character profile to change stats and all but I don't think that's overall worth moving the story over.

Don't know why it's just hitting me now, but why couldn't we just ask Nifelhein, or one of the other site moderators to add in a dice rolling feature? I know Nif can do it, since he's basically moved the site after the old one got shut down and re-written the security code, back when we had the hacker problem.

That would be cool. we should see if Nif can write one up.I dont believe it would be that hard. I think we should stay here. i too like the black background. I'm on the computer a lot for school and constant glare starts irritating my eyes. Its also not to hard to go find our character. If Nif doesnt have time to, maybe one of us could and then Nif can just implement it into the code? I like being able to edit my post later on if i need to. also paizo will log you out sometimes and you lose your entire post.

Ok guys, Nif has solved all our problems!

Here's how it works!

I'm going to get the round updated, and then we'll start using the new dice roller. It will take a little getting used to, so I'd recommend doing test rolls in the above thread to figure it out.

Right, okay. So here's something to be aware of right away. If you make a roll and you click on the edit box, even if it's just to change the text, or add something on your post, it will be marked as tampered with.

However, if you add another  dice roll afterward, it will count as not being tampered with.

Rolled 1d20 : 6, total 6

I would like to apologize to my players for my absence. I've been feeling really creatively burned out. I figured I'd take a few days off to recharge, but life kept getting int he way of my much needed rest. Before I knew it a few days had turned into nearly two weeks.

During that time I thought a lot about the game and the things about it that i wasn't satisfied with.

Primarily it came down to the dice roller, which Nif implemented this week.

So, from now on, I'd like posting to work like this:

I will put the relevant enemy stats in the Discussion thread as part of my Top of The Round header. I will include things like Armor Class, Saving Throws and known special abilities for each enemy.

Players will give me a mechanical breakdown of their actions, including rolls, in the Discussion thread. Since you'll have the enemy stats available to you, you will be able to compare your rolls against them and get immediate results. For spells and effects, you can roll the enemy's Saving throws right there, so you'll know if they work or not right away. With that information you can post your in-game description.

Any surprises, I will handle by just Modifying your posts.

There will be occasional hiccups, but for the most part I think this method will speed things up a great deal and allow the players to have a stronger hand in terms of the combat narrative.

Any questions or thoughts?

This method seemed like the best way to move things forward quickly. If things need adjusting, we'll adjust them.

I apologize for my absence. My new job is still taking a lot out of me. I simply haven't had the energy or time to keep up with my games. This will likely continue for about another month.

I will not let the game die, I promise. It's just going to have to be on hiatus for a bit longer.

Thanks for the update, DH, and no worries. I'm still here, and have a lot going on as well. I hope the new job treats you better soon (and I hope that it's at least rewarding) trust me, I know all about burnout from working too long/hard, and it ain't good.

So what's the outlook for 2015? Are we throwing the towel in? I haven't had a whole lot of time in the last few months, either, but just wondering if this game may still be resurrected (not criticizing anyone, life is life)?
