Kael, Xein, you will both notice the change in Riddar. He's a whole lot paler now. Think Arthas pale.

Wow... that's pretty pale.

Sisters: A tiny dog-man armed to the teeth (heh) just hopped out onto the path, eyeballed all of you, and then turned and started walking away. The two legates barely reacted, but you two can be as surprised as you like.

Kael's got some news to share, and I'd like to give the sisters a bit to get introduced to the rest of the group.

Unfortunately, those three seem to be the only ones not posting.

Hint, hint.

Way to make a first impression folks.

Leaving Rash'gar out of this criticism for in-character social stigma reasons, you older members of the group are not being very helpful here.

There's two pieces of information that are important to pass along.

First, you have two new party members who (in and out of game) have no idea what is going on. Somebody please introduce them and give them a basic explanation of what the groups goals are.

Illustrian's incentives are that he probably wants to get on their good side to help plant the seed that he was incompetent when he helped a group of rebels pass a bunch of check points on the way to Swift Water, not purposefully committing treason. Xein has been trained to serve Legates. The Sisters are definitely that. As for Kael, well, they are very pretty after all.

One of you needs to decide not to be a jerk for the sake of the game. Thanks.

Second, Kael's internal compass has stopped working. That's potentially important information. Kael, if you're not planning on sharing that info right now, tell me so I can stop waiting for it to happen and move the game along.

Post edited.  My bad, kinda forgot that Xein was trained to listen to all Legates.  For the sake of not having to post and wait for a response assume that Xein is willing to divulge all necessary information during travel time and have a look at the "What Xein knows" post in the Quietus Clarion Character Knowledge forum.

DH, I was under the assumption that we didn't ride in silence for the few hours on our way back to the party. It is only logical that Roycilo would have talked the ENTIRE time. The fact I didn't chime in is specifically because he has been talking for hours. I can operate under the assumption that isn't the case, but I just can't wrap my head around what they were doing from the monastery to the party's meeting place.

That, and I was waiting for the other Sister to chime in before Roycilo went on a rant.

Johanas-

I addressed that a bit. I didn't want to make assumptions about what he did or didn't say off-camera, so I brought up the fact that he talks a lot without actually saying much of importance.

It's fare to assume that you and Riddar were introduced, and that by now the Sisters have a pretty good handle on both of your personalities, but as for actual information, well, that's another matter.

sorry if I didn't make it clear enough by not saying anything, but Kael has no intention of mentioning that his compass is gone. in fact unless i'm confused, I don't recall any point where Kael has really said anything about his compass to anyone, that would never do so purposefully. Also DH, I'm curious because I thought the compass was tied to the holy symbol that I wear on my fist, am I not doing a point of vile damage when I hit things now? I suppose I'll find out the next time we get into a fight.. or is the compass separate from the symbol?

As for the sisters, Kael knows nothing about them except that they've kept him waiting. he doesn't know much about sisters except that they're supposed to be legates. At this point he's completely indifferent to them, until they give him reason to think otherwise. They may be pretty, but based on recent events and how they've affected Kael's mindset, that's of little importance to him. Once they get moving he may get over it and be more talkative, or if you want to do a travel montage, then the only info he'd really give up is his name, that he's from Baden's bluff, and that he's tracking a man with Eirik's description.

either way I'm ready to move, sorry if you thought I was going to open up about the compass..

The internal compass/pain thing is tied to the holy symbol. Now the pain isn't directing you. It's just ambient and directionless.

As for if it still does damage, you don't really know, but your bet is yes since the pain is still there.

I don't think you ever mentioned it to anyone, but I'm pretty sure you did mention that you had a way to track the prophet.

I think I probably said something about being able to sense him or track him, without explaining it at all.

I think what it comes down to now is just that they've never seen Kael look like he doesn't know where he should be going, because he hasn't felt that way in a very long time.

Clouse, if you have anything else to say to the other PCs, go ahead. If not, I'd like you to find a reason to take off so the good guys can have a moment to themselves. It'll help speed things along.

Doomed,

How far away is the waterfall? Is the idea for Kjellan to go alone, or with a small escort?

Kael,
(click to show/hide)

Sisters, you've never seen a Bugbear, or Ogres before. They are sub-human servants of the shadow tasked with menial jobs, renown for their stupidity and cruel natures.

Rash'gar, bugbears smell pretty strong, like a weasel or badger, or anything else with musk glands. (like a skunk, but not as strong). It's not very pleasant and makes you territorial and protective instinctively.

Is Xein in the same boat as the others in that he hasn't seen a whole lot of the world, or has he traveled before?

Oops, left you out. Yeah, same boat. You've seen a bugbear before, once. He was bringing Lord Skinner dornish slaves about 20 years ago. You've never seen an ogre.

Remember that for you and Rashgar the size difference is even worse. Ogres are three times your height. That's the height difference between a human and a t-rex.

I'm paying attention, Roycilo is just lost in thought. Not really anything worth posting;especially after those long posts from his companions.

I seriously cannot wait until our group is together. It's really going to hit the fan when the subordinates are caught between disagreements between the legates.

Is it normal for so many legates to be working together with no clear leader? Is there a clear leader I missed?

Riddar thinks he's in charge. Roycilo is letting him think that for now.

This is definitely an odd group. Technically Sir Riddar has rank over illustrian and the sisters, but it's a little bit complicated. If the sisters ever suspect a conflict of loyalty or competence, they can effectively pull rank on any legate (they're like internal affairs).

Kael is subordinate to all the legates, but the guy he answers to is *way* above any of them and Kael could use his orders to supersede anything he's told by other legates.

Being military, Clouse would answer to Sir Riddar first and all other legates second.

Xein and Rash'gar answer to Skinner, but he doesn't have the kind of clout to let them use his orders as a way of denying anyone else's, so they would have to weigh their choices carefully during any cases of internal conflict.

It's a pretty tangled web and I like it that way.

Let's just default to Roycilo is Boss. Otherwise this is going to turn into an evil-heavy version of Who's the Boss mixed with Three's Company. Or for the rest of you young whippersnappers out there, it's like the Hills meet the new 90210 with orcs and ogres playing the guys from Jersey Shore who are making cameos. So how about we all vote for the Roycilo/Jaime Lannister 2012 ticket and call it good. Tyrion for Head of State.
