Tell me about it.

This game had a great start and then a series of quasi-adjustments to handle players coming and going.

Sigh.

I had some good times ahead planed.

Normally I don't do this but ... you want the spoiler theater and get let in on what was going to happen?

As much as i would have loved it to unfold in-game, it'd be eating away at my brain if i didn't know what was supposed to happen and what was it all about.

Understood.

Daniel ... I was playing her up as a mole, sort of a 'way-too-compentent' to still be alive type, nope. That was a red herring ... it didn't quite go the way that I wanted but ... that's the breaks.

The plot was altered a few times to accomodate the need for new players but the core, the ship, didn't change.

The ship was a relic from the second age, one of the last supply ships to cross the sea for the Sarcosians. Unfortunately, for them, there was a mutiny on the ship when the rumors started that the crew was going to stay on the new continent. This was considered a hardship posting and no one wanted it. Things spun out of control as factions developed between the crew. It escalated to open fighting and most of the crew was killed, the remaining crew was easy pickings for the real instigator of the fighting.

A Demon.

It was being transported to Erenland to be destroyed by a specialist but the wards slipped and it started to influence the crew. A few of the remaining crew members figured out what was going on and tried to sink the ship, they failed but they did managed to damage the rudder. So the ship continued in a circle, with only the freed demon left on board. With the ability to fly and no skills to repair the rudder he slumbered.

For over a 1000 years.

Until a Gnomish captain found the ship. His crew was captured and put to work repairing the ship, several others escaped, with the captains log. The remaining crew committed suicide to avoid the demon getting free.

So that was the mess that the PC's were going to find. A haunted supply ship with a mad demon on board. Why would that be valuable, you ask? Because the ship didn't get to deliver it's cargo. Cargo from the Second Age. Weapons, armor, raw materials, siege equipment, gold, and magic. All intended to support the Sarcosian war machine. More than enough to buy the Enforcers out from under a death sentence.

Oh, and they would be in possession of the most powerful ship on this side of the ocean. While it might have been a supply ship it would be like fighting Galleons with a Supertanker in comparison.

That was the basic jist ... any particular questions about plot points?

I'm going to take the silence as a no.

Thanks to the participating players, Berova and Arnon especially, it's been fun and sorry that it ends this way.

Sorry. Was a bit distracted...

No questions, and too bad we didn't get to end it. It was the longest running PbP I had the chance to play (most died out after several posts). So it had a good run i think, and we had some very good players and great posting. I had the opportunity to do some re-reading of old posts in the game and it was very hard to stop...

Also, I really liked Shelg. I don't think i played up his conflict enough: Nature vs. Upbringing/Education, but what can you do now...

Again, thanks for the opportunity, and who knows... i might steal your idea and run it as a campaign of my own Smiley

Argh (to repeat myself).

RL can be a bitch at times.

Sincere apologies for my own part in bringing this to a close.  I was thoroughly enjoying myself with it.  Thank you to the others, particularly Harrowed for running it. Smiley

Ah, Basiravia, how we never got to know you.

She was a Channeler, and an agent of the Shadow, working for Farah Shanduz, the Prince of Hallisport. She was working unwillingly, you see Farah was holding her daughter captive in return for her continued loyalty.

She lied about the child being the daughter of a plains trader, didn't trust you that much.

Plus she attempted to charm Daniel to see if the lot of you were trustworthy.

Well ... we know how that ended.

Heh.  I / Amara would have wanted to try finding her (the kid's clearly useful to more than one group and has to have something about her)... but I was only joining as that offer was being turned down, and never found out about it IC. Wink

Ahh. I figured out part of it... could have been interesting. When we were there, I couldn't decide if she really wants the girl back, or is just using her as bait for a trap... that is, until we killed her and Shelg found the charcoal painting of the girl on Basiravia.

oh well... poor girl
