Hi,

I thought this might be the right place to raise the following question:

If I were to (let's say) write a short story set in Midnight setting, and want to publish it (100% non-commercially) at a fan site, do I need to ask FFG or any other owner of the copyright for their permission?
I have written a short story (well, medium-sized story ~100 pages) and want to post it at fandome in form of .pdf file. Am I allowed?

Same goes for Adventures and Arts and similar stuff.

Lgaard,

My understanding of the copyright laws are as long as you make no profit off the material; no online advertising, links to sites to purchase things, etc, then you're fine.  I asked FFG before I posted my first adventure and they were fine with me posting at ATS.

Kane,
Thank you for your prompt answer.
I would be happy to post it at ATS, but I think you would have no use of it, as the story is written in my native language...
Still, good news for me! Thanks!

There are plenty of non-native English speakers here...someone might find it useful...or even translate it...who knows!  Go ahead and post it...

I am not a 'professional' writer anyway, I'm writing purely for fun, so a quality is... well... but I will reconsider posting it here.

The story is not yet finished, I have some scenes to be rewritten and general editing to be done. But one day, who knows...

It might be interesting to know your opinion on some aspects, especially things that might go against the lore. The story is not 'canonic' by definition, but I tried to stick to what is described in the official books as much as practical. However, I also made up some places/characters etc. and would be great to know your feelings on that. I might try to prepare a short synopsis, even though my English is rather poor.

Btw, any Polish speakers here?

From what I've read thus far, your written English may actually be superior to that of many native English speakers. I look forward to you posting your story!

Interesting...

I'm currently reading Sapkowski novels... and, well... my appreciation of polish fantasy writers is quite high at the moment  Smiley
