Midnight Chronicles DVD is featured on the Wizards of the Coast website, including a talk about the 4th edition adventure set in the campaign setting.

This proves Midnight is far from dead and makes us believe that it might end up being released under the 4th edition banner.

I think I read that FFG was going to be waiting till the launch of the Darksun setting and then see if they can do 4th edition with Midnight with the changes in the Darksun setting.  Looking forward to both.   Enjoyed the movie, was better than I thought it would be.

I'm a bit disappointed they went the 4th Ed route, but i will withhold judgement until I've seen the material.

hrmm...this is good news...even if you don't like 4e, fluff is fluff, and adventures are adventures.  I don't know if I'll convert to 4e, but even some 4e supplements would be good news.

As much as I dislike 4e, I agree with this completely.

So has anyone heard any news regarding what FFG has been doing with the film since its DVD release? Have they found someone who might want to turn it into a series? Somehow I doubt it, but the lack of news on this subject from FFG is frustrating.

I search the web at least once a week, but there is no news yet. My friends are trying to convince me that Midnight will go fully 4 Ed and that I should allow them to play converted 4 Ed races. I'm starting to think that they are right.

Well, I can introduce more arcane elves rather easily, since the party has finished certain quest which has roots in the Sorcery and Shadow, and there are bound to be some Tieflings in the world with so many demons and devils, but the rest of the races... I just don't know.

Hiding from Shadow

« Reply #12 on: June 20, 2010, 01:57:18 PM »

Having played 4E and Midnight, I can testify that 4E races are way too powerful. Personally, I find they don't fit the setting's "mood" and atmosphere. But you can say they are foreigners from distant lands (as hinted in Landfall and Sharuun). In that way, they would have to explain how they came to appear in Eredane (communication with other continents is unheard of in the last age) or how they grew up in Eredane and end up not being hunted down by either party (being obvious fey for the Shadow, and Tieflings... well... would actually get killed on sight by other resistants, or captured by the Shadow).

As an aside, I really was not convinced by 4E at all, on any point.

But it's your game, and as long as you and your players enjoy it, that's the only thing that matters.

Well, we play using Pathfinder rules. My players resolved several major quests - they found Aradar, they helped Aradil to free Zardrix from Shadow's power (she used her freedom to level Cambrial to the ground and temporarily destroy Sunulael) and to create a strain of plague that attacks only orcs (which was quickly countered, but not before almost destroying forces attacking Erethor), and they have awakened several Elder Fays. Among them was a prince of Eldar, ancestors of the elves and with him was his retinue, an army of 10 000 Eldar. This was inspired by an illustration in one of the sourcebooks, I don't remember which. The picture showed ranks of elves standing in ranks as if sleeping, looking like Chinese clay soldiers.

So, several of the PCs died fighting lich called Dorzar and now they want to play Eldar. The game is on the pause right now, so I don't really know what will I decide.

Dark Sun comes out this month, hopefully that means we will be hearing something about Midnight by Christmas. Wink
