Hiding from Shadow

« on: July 18, 2009, 09:10:29 AM »

Hello,

After a complete withdrawal of the Midnight pdfs from www.drivethruprg.com (mostly due to the release of the Midnight Chronicles movie), FFG started to reintroduce it:

http://rpg.drivethrustuff.com/index.php?manufacturers_id=6&filters=0_0_0_0

For now, only Midnight 2nd Edition (for 10$!), Hand of Shadow and City of Shadow are available, but it is likely that the rest will soon follow (crosses fingers).

Means they removed the d20 logo and any mention of player's hadnbook, dungeon master guide and monster manual from them. This probably means the adventure coming with Midnight Chronicles US will use 3.5 as well.

Something is better than what they have been giving us ... which was nothing.

True ... better news would be some publisher support though.

Seems they are making the rpg available again to cover for the search for the rpg game the movie may bring, this may eventually result in a new edition of the books if it goes well.

The US release is going to have an adventure? I take it I shouldn't order the DVD yet then...?

"midnight rises from the dark"

Taken out of context there is something deeply baffling about that statement. It's the same sort of brain twist I get when I think about things like klein bottles and escher drawings. Laugh

So i've finally gone over to the page and, other than being happy that the PDFs are back up, I was glad to see that they finally priced the PDFs appropriately.

$10 for MN2e, and $7 for any of the supplements.

When back home i'll check what I don't have in PDF yet.

Now if they would only make Fury of Shadow available i'll buy it in an instant Grin

Man...I really hope the combo of this and the movie revitalizes the line. If Fantasy Flight gets in touch with Paizo and pulls some Pathfinder stuff out of a hat, I will officially worship at their dark altar. Heck, even if they start putting out 4th ed junk, at least we'll get some new flavor.

Hiding from Shadow

« Reply #15 on: August 13, 2009, 09:43:33 PM »

I just bought the special US release on www.drivethrurpg.com. It features the movie (SD & HD versions), M2E (pdf), original and later scripts, and an original adventure. I liked the adventure. It is released in D&D 4th ed format (which makes me wonder).

Another big announcement is the release by FFG at GenCon of Warhammer 3rd ed, with quite "innovative" rules which make it sound like a crossover between RPG, boardgame and MMORPG. Seems interesting. Perhaps if the game sells, FFG could try and make a Midnight version? (well, anything to keep the line alive, actually...)

Two good reviews so far on Drivethrurpg.com Nice

The one bad review is only because the adventure is 4e.

I'm debating weather to buy the download or the disc. Buying the disc i'll need to pay probably 15 more dollars for shipping Sad
