Welcome to the boards, by the way. Thanks for letting us know your review. And I wouldn't worry about getting attacked here. Everyone here is pretty nice, and we all understand that a review is an opinion that everyone is entitled to. Also, just because someone put a label we like on any random movie doesn't automatically make it good (though I suppose Transformers 2 is proving that point wrong...)
Joe
Cheers for the kind words. I just wish I had been a bit more thoughtful and in depth when reviewing. I have watched it again since and still enjoyed it

Looks like a September release for us in the States.
http://www.icv2.com/articles/news/15284.html
Finally, Fantasy Flight will release Midnight Chronicles ($14.95) in the U.S. for the first time in September. Based on FFG’s Midnight RPG, the DVD release is the first feature film from FFG, set in a world where the dark god Izrador rules over all. The DVD, currently available in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, includes several extras, such as a behind-the-scenes “making of” documentary, deleted scenes, director’s commentary, and more. Also included is an exclusive adventure for Midnight players, based on the events of the film.

Nifelhein, I guess your DVD is pretty bare of extras bar the trailer. A commentary would have been nice as well as the adventure. Mind you, I can't say it's the first time that a Region 1 DVD has had more extras than a Region 2 one. Guess I will start putting money aside for the Region 1 version asssuming these extras are confirmed. I presume the lack of extras is down to the distributor rather than FFG.

I'd like to put my hands on the adventure, I hope FFG will somehow make it available for those who bought the region 2 DVD...

If someone from FFG lurks here, can they confirm this information? Are there plans for us overseas Midnight fans (who bought the zone 2 DVD) to be able to get the adventure?

Lots of good stuff in, a well made trailer regarding to the money involved, some things to explore more deeply as a dm........
overall i like it and like to see an entire season...
the only thing i wont use as a midnight dm is the last place shown... peoples that have seen it will understand what i mean... I don't want to spoil for the others...
see u all later on when i'll have more time....

Started to see it but I already have one bad point. No subtitles at all on the uk version, I can understand it just fine but it becomes useless if you are or have a close person who is deaf...
I say started because it was too alte and I did not manage to stay awake to go past the first couple of minutes.

That item does not seem to feature all the extras they have announced for the US version, we will probably see a new one with those listed in the near future.

I just received my copy from play.com (UK) ... but hell ... why they didn't include subtitles??!!
Was it too hard the work? Right now, not thinking a second about it, I can name 4 to 5 people who would write them for free.
In the internet there are plenty of
communities
of people who do it for free!
I say: give one of these people no money but his name written on the end titles, and they will be happy forever, and your dvd will have subtitles (= international value).
Damn laziness! Damn idiots!

That's strange. French version has French audio, and english audio with french subtitles.
Btw, I just pre-ordered on drivethrurpg.com the US version with pdf extras: includes the movie script, the "Midnight RPG" (is it M2E or an original RPG, I wonder) and an exclusive adventure. The cost is 14.99$.

I've seen IT!
It's... epic.
But the european edition of the DVD lacks of many features: subtitles, adventures... damned USA!

I saw the movie this past weekend. I will say that, overall, I liked it. It has an intriguing storyline, which I would love to see developed, even if it were in a novel format. The acting is generally good, with a few performances that struck me as very good (the actress playing Lashere), while others were kind of "meh...". As for other aspects, considering that it's a low budget film (and sometimes it really shows), I think it's pretty well made. The only criticism that I have, and think that could have been addressed, is that everything looks too "clean". For a downtrodden town as it's depicted, all the costumes look clean and well cut, instead of being dirty and frayed. But, like I said, it's a personal gripe.

My views are pretty much identical to dimitri's. I had real low expectations for this film, as most low budget fantasy films are typically very poor. Overall very good, the main legate guy was cast very well. CGI even looked good ( was watching this on my pc, so perhaps a big screen might show differently ). But yeah the only issue i had was as Dimitri said, everyone was clean and their clothes immaculate. Wouldn't have took much effort for the peasant types at least to roll around in the mud or something lol. Perhaps as the romans brought a lot to the world they conquerored perhaps the Shadow brought washing powder, and the orcs are a damn fine tailors :p
Hopefully there is more to follow.

I think it's down to budget restraints. To make clothes ragged but realistic isn't straight forward, I think you'd end up with stuff like cheap fancy dress costumes without a decent budget. I remember watching the extras of Warlords where they described the efforts to make the clothes look worn and damaged which was painstaking. If they could only get picked by a channel fo finance the production of a series.

It was the sort of thing you expected in the Street of Alchemists. The neighbours *preferred* explosions, which were at least identifiable and soon over. They were better than the smells, which crept up on you.

Finally got around to see this movie. I wasn't expecting much and didn't get much out of it.
Acting: Just plain bad with abundant overacting. Overacting was mostly done by the bad guys along with semi-bad guys (the mayor, for example), and bad acting had no alignment. The one i most did not like, i think, was the Legate's side-kick even though he did a good job of spewing out references to midnight stuff... that was his main job i believe).
Story: I know this was supposed to be a series, but if so the beginning was boring and most likely would not have captured my attention under normal circumstances... just for the fact that its fantasy.
Orc costumes were actually good, but clothing worn (as someone said) were "too" clean. Scenery and sets went from very good to just plain bad. CGI was generally good.
I can ignore some parts of this due to this being a low-budget indy movie but not the bad acting and not the boring story. I will not show this movie to people in order to "buy them" on Midnight.... i'll give them my Midnight pitch instead.
