Problem hit me earlier this morning, around 1030 EST, then cleared up about 10 minutes later.

Yeah, I don't know either. I even tried the computer upstairs to check that it wasn't a browser issue. I'm going to start recording the times that it happens. Maybe that will help. At least I'm not the only one.

might it be a local router or ISP issue?  I've very occasionally had problems, but nothing of the sort you've been seeing, Har.  And mine always go away with an immeadiate refresh. 

Perhaps the tubes are clogged...

On the site side it can only be explained by a dns propagation, all settings are as they should be and it works perfectly fine for me, any of you guys can do a tracert to the site? If you could please do it when the issue happens.

Also when the trouble shows up Harrowed, try using 72.232.70.66 or ats.unifans org to get to it and see if it works please. I want to fix this for anyone who might be having it, but I first must know where to go and strike.

Here is my host said those having the problem should do:

Quote
Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt

Type in:
ipconfig /flushdns

Hit the "Enter" key.

Reboot. It'll work then.

Heh. Mac user here.

Before anyone jumps on the "there's your problem" jokes, I'd like to point out that this is the only sight that has ever given me troubles.  Cool

Also, I haven't gotten the error in a couple days. Whatever you tried seems to be working, Nif.

If it is indeed a dns issue it should be this site problem's and not necessarily any other. Additionally it could also be tied to the route the data takes to you too, so some have it and some do not. Wink

It will help define whether the issue is on your isp, on the site server or jsut in the path in between them, for the last the fix is trickier, but have you tried setting an open dns for your router or modem to connect to? If it is the last one it should fix the issue and many others isp can be blamed for as well.

A good free dns, which is the one I use, is http://www.opendns.com/

After weeks of no problems, I'm starting to see this pop up more often, and on a variety of machines too (Windows at home, Linux at work). 

It will fail for a while, and when I check back a while later sometimes it will work, so I'm not sure if it's a time-dependent thing or not...

Copy & paste the result here. Do this when you can't access the site. I can't talk to my host because on their end everything seems to be just fine, unless I have more information there is not much I can do.

I have tried to do it when the server is down, but i keep getting nothing what so ever, the trace just says it cant find the target computer.
Not 100% sure what i did was right Smiley.........but that is what i got.

I got it earlier today for about 5 minutes. I don't know how to run a trace on a Mac, so i'm afraid I can't help diagnose the issue.

The site has been down for me just about the whole day, and I had tried to run tracerout but every time i try I get the same thing, cant find host comp, nothing else.

Ok new idea, when you can't connect to the site can you connect over to www.unifans.org ? It is on the same server and host computer, if you can I have the issue pinned simply to the domain address and will talk to my host again. This is extremely frustrating to me.

The pattern im seeing is that I cant get into the page in the day time here, from ruffly about 1100 to about 2200 the page is dead, I have no idea what time that is in the US Smiley
But the time zone im in is GMT -1

Yes I had no problems connecting to ww.unifans.org, worked like a charm.

I've also noticed that the connection problem seems to be connected to the time of day. It seems most common between 10am-ish and 3pm-ish (Pacific Standard Time)
