darkred and maroon, as well as lime and limegreen look practically the same, but it'll be nice to have a larger variation of color.

Also note that 'navy' can hardly be seen on the board, and 'black' will hardly be used on this board with this background

Yes it is possible, arnon. I can also take out other colors, it may take a while before I get to this though, I would say at least tuesday, but doable nevertheless.

Hello, this is supposed to be concealed text, headed by a "spoiler" sign.

EDIT: Ok, so SMF doesn't have the spoiler otion. And with every second post having a grey background, it's gonna be a little harder to conceal things by writing in black too.

Is it possible to get the spoiler thingy?

We may also make a new color coding and select colors using web pallete (html) and even name them as the languages in the menu, or make them soemthing like Red (orcish). Thi would be handy, though other users might not like to have the languages around when using colors in other forums. I am not certain i can define some colors for just a given forum, but if possible, then consider the language names available.

I will also check to see if there is a way of using the mod for spoiler tag in the SMF version we use, but that is not a sure thing, when we get a new final release of SMF (v1.1) we will get a lot of new and cool mods available, people are only focusing on the Release Candidates lately.

I'm certain that SMF will have this in a future releae. In the interim I can change the alternating background colors to be just black. Would that make it easier on everyone?

Okay, it was just a suggestion.    I tried installing the spoiler mod to no avail. Somethingn to do with corrupt data in the zip file.

Well, we can have a hell lot of colors to be displayed and while I am certain we would love to have some i wonder which ones should go to the drop downmenu for post a reply. This will also mean we may choose any color to make a new color code for PbPs, which may take a time getting used to but may make closely related languages close in color.

This website has a lot of named colors (which will go easy on me, since I won't have to give them names myself), we can choose from those, compare the colors to the black, gray and dimgray backgrounds and see which ones you like, i think we should have something like 25 colors (including black, white and the other basics). For soem reason, prbably the coding the creator used onthe page, I couldn't have the background functionality working properly in Firefox, so use IE to view the site and i will be fine for you as well.

I will choose from them later, if none opinates, then it wil be Nif's selection.

Yeah, I fall into the "that's a heck of a lot of colors" bin.

I think we need to use "hotpink" if only because they named a color hot pink (and what other font color will we use for gourd comments in people's sigs?)

On the language scheme for PbPs and story hours i think we should leave things as we had them before. although we did have two sets of color codes, but we can decide to use the newer one you suggested Nif... the one i posted in my first post of this thread.

So as a start:

I know my game was using Slate Gray for OoC stuff...don't know how invisible it will be on the new background

Dark red and blue are both a bit hard to see on both backgrounds...could we switch to slightly different shades maybe?

the other monitor I was on must have sucked.  darkviolet and crimson are fine.  I'd say use lightcoral, deepskyblue, and replace purple with fuchsia.

I will still go through the list, but I think we need to focus on at least 2 colors for each basic (blue, red, yellow), two for each secondary (orange, green and violet) and at least 4 on the black-gray-white scale, add a few variations to that and we may end up well, not only that but we may also redefine the languages to have close colors be closely related languages.

I would also try to avoid too long or wordy names like lemonchiffon, but would keep it if no better option is really available.
