Ah, I played recent in a friend's 4E game. I decided I would try it out, I've had games in the past I dismissed but then liked when I played them.

Overall I didn't like it.

The pushing and pulling aspect were interesting, I can see some of thefun that could be had there.

But it just ran too high-powered for my tastes, a little too over the top.

I play in a 4e game, but mearly as a 'combat sim' basically.  My first clue that 4e isn't about roleplaying is the fact that none of the feats (or skills, for that matter) help RP, everything relates back to combat.

Still haven't had the opportunity to try it, but I must confess I'm not too tempted by a combat-based RPG that feels like a MMORPG...

I was not really gonna buy it now, but ended up hiting one button more than I should on amazon. If anything I will at least be able to say i tried and read it before dismissing it for good. I do enjoy tactical combat with miniatures, I ended up liking it more than generic combat and found out I make good scenarios and encounters if the rules give me tactical approaches to work with. My problem is that I am very bad at designing social encounters overall.

Something I really need to work on, anyone care to share a system or book that would greatly improve my skill in that area? Wink

Warhammer 40K? ... Warmachine

My favorite is Mechaton from Lumply Games.

For less than ten dollars and some legos, you too can have a giant fighty robot!

I have a weakness for the Privateer Press stuff ... even if they aren't really supporting the IK system right now.
