Welcome.

We'll be using the colored text to handle different languages.

Please make sure that your character is posted in the Volunteer Roll before posting to the IC.

Please keep any game questions to the OoC thread, I'd like to keep the IC thread as clean of mechanics as possible.

The others in the room are the other PC's, have fun.

I'm curious as to how clean of mechanics you want?

Should only talking and actions others can see be described in the IC thread, and all D&D mechanics be discussed in the OOC thread?  I don't want to get yelled at later.  Wink

I've seen some characters put internal thoughts in posts as well, do you want those or skip them?

Thanks.

Nice intro.  Smiley

I've been called a "Post Whore" on other forums, so expect that.  hehe.

Sorry I had to make you revise your post however.  I still have to figure out what sort of personality I will try to roleplay.  I'm sure I'll figure it out as I go, but I have some ideas.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Mechanics in the OoC thread.

Couple quick OoG questions-

So is Verador the only one in the game from the original CoS storyline?

Would the brooch and cloak given out at the end of that adventure be recognizable to any of the other characters?

Has word of Mithril being brought to the elves spread, and has Verador managed to maintain some level of anonymity? (Or has he become famous, despite his best efforts)

These will make a big difference in how the introductions turn out.

I believe you're the only character to have gone on the original CoS.

I'd imagine that though others of the court would recognize the gifts, the PCs would have less of a reason to.

I believe so, depending on Kane's character's background.

Would the brooch and cloak given out at the end of that adventure be recognizable to any of the other characters?

Quite recogonizable to characters that have knowledge of Elven lands. I'll give anyone a Knowledge: Caraheen [DC10] or Knowledge: Local [DC12].

Has word of Mithril being brought to the elves spread, and has Verador managed to maintain some level of anonymity? (Or has he become famous, despite his best efforts)

The word of the Mithril hasn't spread, it's being kept quiet however Verador has picked up some fame but no one is quite sure what for. Just something about a distant mission from the east and a success that has the Council pleased enough to add him to the Order of the Lady.

Harrowed,

I had thought that Avren may have crossed paths with the original CoS crew, but to make it easy, I moved him a casualty of the fighting in the Green march to make things easier.

So I may have seen him while (or before) he was wounded? Is there anything particular about Avren that would make him jump out in Verador's memory? (Unique scar or piece of equipment maybe.)

Verador tends to stick out in the minds of others, if for no other reason than the animals that travel with him. If Avren has seen him, he would probably remember.

Doomed Hero,

I'm trying to make Avren the odd human out in this group, playing up the isolation and trying to fit in.  To stay with that idea, I'd say that you haven't seen him.

Hopefully I look more like a Gnome than a Dwarrow. Smiley

I don't know if I need to do a bluff or something to make that happen however.

My "limp" is also staged, and I can walk just fine.  Murwick has learned over the years to make himself look as pathetic as possible, so that prying eyes see what he wants them to see, a small Gnome with a limp that poses no threat.  He's done it so long, that it's second nature to him, when he doesn't know the people around him.  Plus, he never knows when he is being watched, so he does the limp hunched over thing, all the time.  It's one of the defenses he's learned over the years.

Harrowed are you going to roll dice for things? I don't know if that was mentioned.

Well, Teliir has seen neither a Dwarrow nor a Dwarf before, and has seen a gnome no more than a handful of occasions, so you're doing a good job convincing her, regardless of your actions...

I'm just curious, am I acting unlike a Gnome?  If so, some pointers would be good, as the character probably knows better than the player does, hehe.

no no, I meant regardless of your success of failure of a bluff check, Teliir would have no baseline on which to judge a Dwarrow's appearance.  Bluff DC 0, if you prefer.

My take on river gnomes has always been that they excel at "hiding in plain sight".

They do their best to act with flare and panache, dress garishly, talk a lot, but say little and generally attempt to cause those around them to dismiss their antics as quickly as possible. This allows them greater freedoms than any other culture. Their personalities are all smoke and mirrors to distract and misdirect from the important things.

If you're going for a "typical gnome" think Gypsy-Pirate Stage Magician and you'll be fine.

Verador has dealt with Gnomes before, and knows about their subtlety, and their reputation for playing both sides at once. Your bluff will most likely succeed, but no matter the result, he will be skeptical and distrustful until Murwick's actions prove his intentions. he also won't be surprised in the slightest when the truth of the ruse comes out later.

Samwise, in my first post i refer to him as a dwarrow so i decided to continue with it.

Shelg has certainly seen and interacted with gnomes before while with his former "employer"...

Kane,

if I read your post in the IC right, then you confused Shelg the Elfling with Murwick the Dwarrow.
