Waiting to ensure that they are safely away and secure from prying ears, Avren asks the question taht has nagged at him from the moment he saw the legates.  "Lady Serapis, the attack that occured the night before, is there any chance it was directed by Lady Elizabeth? If the legates have been here for more then a day, they would want us killed. If you agree taht she may have had a hand in teh attack, should we expect another tonight?"

If the legates have been here for more then a day, they would want us killed. If you agree taht she may have had a hand in teh attack, should we expect another tonight?"

She turned towards the window, flicking up a slat with a polished nail. Her lips went tight as she nodded, 'Even in what we've build here there are those that don't agree with our Queen's policies. They believe that the living are only waiting to become Fell like us, a better form of life. She smiled, less tight, more broad, 'Whether you like it, or not.

She shifted in the seat and the smell of lavender and jasmine filled the cabin.

[Doomed Hero]

Verador snorts derisively.

[Pheros]

Teliir looks at Verador, and her hands quickly flash [Patrol Sign]"Not helping"

She then turns to Serapis: "Are the majority of your people in support of the Queen, or this new philosophy?  Where do the sentiments of the populace lie?"

[Harrowed]

Verador snorts derisively.

The dress handler sitting across from Verador curls his lip up and his eyes narrowed. He looked to be forming words when Serapis started to speak, he leaned back and resumed a neutral visage.

She then turns to Serapis: "Are the majority of your people in support of the Queen, or this new philosophy?  Where do the sentiments of the populace lie?"

Serapis shakes her head, some others in the nobility might have illusions about the people but not myself. The Queen has the loyalty of the majority of the people, they know they owe their existence to her and what she's built. However you gather enough people in one place and some are bound to have a different opinion. She glances towards Verador with a raised eyebrow, Reason, and civility are among the few things that differ us from the hordes that roam the plains killing and dying as animals. Its that reason and civility that defended your door last night. I lost a good man defending that door, he left a family behind that miss him and will remember that he died defending what we've build here. So I'll ask you to keep a civil and polite tongue.

She stared across the cabin waiting for a response.

Verador nods.

I do not begrudge or deny what you have done here. It is a testament to what can be attained in the face of great adversity. I do, however, find incredulity in your choice of words. Lets not forget that beneath all this, you, like all Fell, have a need to eat the flesh of the living in order to maintain your sanity and self control I would hardly call that a better form of life. I apologize if that insults your philosophies.

He says nothing of the lost man.

It doesn't insult my beliefs, its what those fanatics believe. But I can see the hate and disgust written on your face, you'll want to hide it better. You're in a city surrounded by us. More importantly you've become a representative of your Queen, if you want access to that mine it would serve you better.

Verador raises an eyebrow.

I do not hate the Fell. One of my truest allies became one, and survived on a diet of slain enemies before I had to destroy him once we ran out of those we could sacrifice to his hunger. I was glad for the additional time his condition gave us. What I hate is that every creature that dies becomes a potential enemy to the living, as well as a potential soldier in some Legate's army. It is a harsh fact that a handful of them could override any self control your people have, and turn you all into weapons to slay mine. In any case, I shall attempt to be more...political.

Imagine then that knowing that this place existed and your friend could come here. A place where he wouldn't be hated, or destroyed. Where he could learn to control his hungers as so many others have. As for Legates, that has been tried in the past and they have failed. Our Queen holds our devotion here, not their fallen god in the north.

[Kane]

"Lady Serapis, with your knowledge of your people and the queen, what could we offer your people that don't already have?  Your city is deep in the jungle, away from the war zone, at least for now, and seem to lack for little.  The legates will promise the world and have access to the resources they have raped from my people. Somehow we have to get across to your Queen that they can't be trusted and once the fey are defeated, their armies will come here and enslave you as well."

[Harrowed]

What we need for this deal is a better offer then the Legates can put together. What we need most of all is allies. We are alone out here in the jungle, with the Danasil who bear us no love and kill us when they can. We need the Danasil called off, and more than that we need them as allies. We need trades people. We're lacking in masons, engineers, carpenters, leather workers, men like that.   

She stops as if considering something, a balancing. If you need to talk to your government, your Council, I can help. On of my men is a Channeler of no small skills.

I have an ally who is Danisil, though raised by the Erunsil. It is not uncommon for Erunsil risen from death to continuse to fight along side the living. We cannot afford to be squeemish or pick about our allies, so we do not have the same zeal when it comes to the eradication of the fell. There is even a place we refer to as the Veil of Dead Ice that teams with them. We simply avoid them and use their numbers as a barrier against the orcs. If you can put me in contact with her, she can speak with the Danisil leaders. They may listen. Councilor Lena may be able to authorize us to offer more than possibilities. Speaking with her would also be a boon.

That can be arranged, my Channeler is a secret that I do not wish to have exposed but this situation is too important not to use all resources.

"The legates have their beasts close at hand, I'm sure, those that sniff magic.  We must assume we are being watched and any magical actions will be immediately known and noted.
