You know I'm going to end up throwing nothing but constructs and elementals at you, right.
Going to, he says.
and about the constructs and elementals, yeah, i figured you would make my niche blatantly obsolete... i will just sit back with sholano and remember how fun the game used to be when I could participate (dis)proportionally in combat
Hey man, at least you have a combat niche. Mine consists entirely of making up situational crap on the fly.

And also, remind me to get you the other flowcharts we've done so far. You appear to be the only in the group with a scanner.

Haven't updated this for a while, but tonight's session was worth bragging about. Here's the brief rundown-

The PC's assassinated an evil, demon-possessed undead elf (that they had already killed about a year ago) who was trying to set up a dwarf-effecting version of the Glamour of Caradul inside the Crimson Stair of Calador. They altered it so that it effected Orcs again and have begun carrying the powerful spell, which is anchored to a sapling Homewood tree around with them in a large planting box.

They held a Wake for a dead companion who's ghost had just finished forging powerful weapons by possessing another character. The weapons were finished by imbuing them with his spirit, which destroyed it.

Calador fell when Jahzir led an assault through an underground tunnel that lead to the ancient ruins of Old Calador. The Ironborn Dornish barbarian actually managed to survive a hit for the Sword of Shadow himself! (147 points of damage, 8 points of Strength damage and 7 negative levels).

A powerful ancient dwarven fail-safe device (described in more detail here) went off and blew up the entire Kaladrun mountain range.

The PC's are now trapped in the Deeps in the aftermath, in tunnels no dwarf has set foot in for more than 1000 years. The session ended with them bleeding and battered pulling up the rear guard for what was left of the dwarves of Calador. They could hear the keening of the Song of the Darguul in the distance.

"Inch towards daylight"

This has been a long time coming and I felt it was only fair to inform the people on the rest of our adventures to date. This will be doled out in short bursts and keep an eye on the updates as chronological event I have forgotten about may be placed in at later times.

A number of unprecedented actions heralded this dark turn of events, leading from the subterrainean world of the Dwarves and into the unknown of Aryth's very own Underdark.

After we had freed the Dwarves of Pardrum Holdfast from their now Bodak infested home, we hurried along the tunnel of Woden the Dwarven Seer king's tunnel. The venerable Dwarven Lore Keeper Dola of Pardrum Holdfast had passed on due to old age; but we needed her so we used Reincarnate to place her still lingering soul into that of a fallen Dwarven warriors body. It led to some hilarious moments since Dola who was a female Dwarf, now was in a young and healthy male Dwarf's body. Along the way we came upon many trials and wonders including: Dealing with confused Delvers that had been betrayed by Blackblood Dwarves. Seeing a marshaling of Jahzir's forces from a high vantage point among an abandoned Dwarven outpost. Evading or silently killing Orcish patrols near tunnel entrances. Utilizing the Witch Queens power through our Seer Channeler and launching a night raid, with a small army of flying Dwarves, which managed to destroy the Golem Works the Shadow forces had found and were operating.  While there we met our revived and controlled Elven allies(COS) from our first adventure.

Locating and using the Melting Vortex Nexus. Locating and utilizing an echo chamber Nexus, which was attuned to Sonic vibrations. Meeting and reawakening the Keeper of the Road, an Elder Earth Elemental, who had nearly fallen into slumber after hundreds of years of maintaing the Woden's secret tunnel. It then gave us a Gem of summoning which could be used once to call it to our location.

We also came to a Durgis encampment within the Pass of the Eagles, where a large scale fight between the surface Dwarves and Orcish forces were clashing, when we saw Aanamanthiax, the dragon appear and begin routing the Dwarves from their encampments. The Dwarves were forced to quickly give ground and retreated. We decided not to stick around that day and when we came up in the next tunnel exit, the fighting had ended and we saw the wounded and badly crippled form of the Dragon, painfully climbing its way to a lair to rest and recover. The valley was left in smoldering ruin and large pools of Dragon blood covered the ground.

Climbing up to one of the highest peaks of the Kaladruns we saw a nesting Roc and took its partially eaten meal, which was a whale, to help feed the Dwarves of Pardrum. We were later approached by Agammon the Red, one of the remaining good aligned Dragons serving Xirxci, before being taken to him inside his hidden lair underneath the Blinfork spires, where we were tasked to repel a Shadow strike force bent on destroying the Nexus. We successfully repelled it and picked up a useful lizard thing, that turns anything meeting its gaze to stone. We also faced off with a Tunnel Spider that had set up its web inside the tunnel but managed to turn it to stone.

Finally reaching the Southern defense of Calador, a fortress called Mahan which had fallen and been sunken into the ground due to Dwarven engineering to slow down the enemy. Calling the Keeper of the Road to aid, us and unfortunately, through unspecified action had him raise the fallen fortress back up which allowed us easy access to the tunnel but also allowed the Orcish force free access through the now undefended fortress as well.

After that, we made a mad dash to Calador where we aided with the Defense by bringing the first line of Dwarven reinforcements. The advance enemy forces had already made use of their corrupted Delvers and were burrowing into the tunnels that the Dwarves of Calador had also found and were defending. We caught them in a pincer attack and were making some headway until the Master In Gray's hunter Jael, made a sweeping return entrance into the fight with his own Delver several other powerful Legates at his side! Despite the fact we had killed him before, he had a new body, his head had been put on to the body of a corrupted celestial. It made him both incredibly resilient and fast. The fight was desperate on both sides but in the end our Guardian managed to stab him through the chest and smite him upon the wall. After that day we followed the tunnel into the most impressive thing ever described and possibly Caladors strongest defense. A Trap Elemental! It was sentient, made of weapons, and when it killed an enemy it utilized any metal to add to or reinforce itself. We convinced it that we were all allies, not easy considering Mechanus is a sundered tongue, and made it passed.

We entered into the vast chamber of old Calador. It was the size of an entire city but most of it was under water and were greeted by the Dwarven king who had known about it but it had been abandoned for so long it was nearly forgotten. Before discussion really began we were assaulted by yet another team of Delvers but also a highly trained unit of Orcs (who all had Heroic Paths) and the Dragon Anamanthiax who had slowly healed over the months.

The fight was dangerous and a black skinned Elf who was with the Orcs, nearly escaped with the Dwarf king when he grabbed ahold of him and then jumped through the shadows. Luckily some of the party caught up to and slew him while the rest of the party battled the Orcs. Save for one Enlarged, flying, magically strengthened, Raging Barbarian Dwarf and the crazy pale Elfling who decided jumping onto a Dragon would be a good idea. Sadly, Hrothgar the Prince of Destruction finally met his match that day and was bested by the powerful foe. He died attempting to strangle the dragon with large Mithral chains that had been hanging from the ceiling, when the Dragon unleashed an all out assault on him; culminating in his body being burnt to the bones. But Hrothgar was not soundly defeated. His black helm, the Covenant Item of the Durgis Dwarves and focus point for all the spirits of the clan, began to hum with power. His spirit rose, and with it all of the fallen Dwarves of the Durgis and Pardrum clan spirits that had been called to him by his helmet. They sacrificed themselves by the dozens to infuse Hrothgar with a strange blue fiery strength and many more tore into the Dragon itself. Hrothgar was nothing more than an animated skeleton wrapped in blue flame but he attacked Anamanthiax with his new found strength and after several blows won the day.

More to come later...

"Inch towards daylight"

All in the mind.

Once the Dragon had fallen, the party gathered to fight the Orcs and the battle began anew. A dispel magic centered on the Captain of the Orc squad broke something holding him. He seemed as though snapping out of a trance and called off his men from attacking any further.  Both sides held off as we were not in any shape to fight and there was a brief and heated discussion between the Orcish Captain and another Orc who seemed perturbed that the Captain was acting normal again. The end Result was the Captain ordering the white mask wearing Giant in the party to smash the black cloak wearing Orc. A brief scuffle and then the Orcs head was lopped off. Negotiations began immediately following in where the Orcs who recognized Kaz the Orc in our party, as one of their former members and they made an oath to the Dor of Calador. The party warily watched and acted as intermediaries while a number of important discussions took place. Eventually the Orcs were allowed to follow us up, unarmed and into the heart of Calador where they were to be tested to see if their word was true or not.

Besieged though it was, Calador proper was one of the most impressive spectacles of Engineering we had ever seen. The Dor led us to his council chambers and the Orcs were taken to the hall of the Ancestors to be judged. We began speaking with the Dor and his council about what was going on and how we had gotten there. The Dwarves of Calador were quite pleased to meet more of their kin and the 2,000+ Dwarves we had brought with us finally were allowed to rest for a short time after hundreds of miles of trekking. We brought news of the plan we had uncovered through our seers vision and the Witch Queens orders. We had finally reached the goal of our mission we had been sent on almost a year before and we were also given time to rest.

Our mission wasn't done yet however. We discovered that the Mithral axes of the Dors of each Clan of Dwarves acted as keys to the Mechanism below in Old Calador. We headed down there and sent our Orcish Channeler Kaz to swim beneath the water and down to where the Mithral Chains went. We discovered that the lake in Old Calador was actually a Powerful Nexus known as the Bowl of Calador. Somehow it had been forgotten about and not used for hundreds or possibly thousands of years. The Guardian of which was in fact Woden the Seer King's spirit. He knew about us from his visions in the past and was thus helpful to our cause.

We raised Anamanthiax as a Draconic Skeleton and then attempted to Reincarnate Hrothgar but we quickly realized that something was wrong. The Helm had been activated and because he had died his soul was tied to it. He was not able to be fully revived. He discovered that every day he "lived" one of the remaining Dwarven spirits would be consumed. He couldn't live with himself like that, so he made a choice. He possessed the body of Kaz and took his own bones, along with mithral that had been gifted to us by the Dwarves of Calador and began to craft powerful weapons out of them. He worked tirelessly under the water, he was given aid from Woden on crafting knowledge and finally, the day he was finished, he gathered us to say his farewells before he sundered his own soul to empower the weapons he had made himself.

Not long after that we were once again called into service to aid in the defense of the city. First we were sent to the western wall. The defenses had been breached there some months ago and the city had to section off an area the enemy now held. They once again were making a large push and were using a specialized unit. A Giant known as the Breaker of Holds. We made our way there and through a clever use of Dwarven traps from Sholano, our Gnome Jack-of-All-Trades, we caught the monstrosity and pinned him down long enough for us to kill him.  We also managed to break the Orcish lines and sent them running.

After that we were called to defend an area known as the Bloody Stair. A sealed off area where so much fighting had occurred between the Invaders and Attackers and so many had lost their lives on both sides it had become a Necromantic Conflux. An incursion of Orcs were making their way through and were about to unleash a plan that could doom the entire Dwarven Resistance. A similar spell effect to the Glamour surrounding the Erethor. We went ahead and immediately began to enounter resistance from Orcish invaders and a pair of Legates. The Orcs surprised us when several pulled out explosives but we managed to kill them before they did too much damage. We made use of old traps and sheer brute force before managing to push them back. As we continued to push them back we eventually came to a strange sealed chamber. Inside which was a trapped Pit Fiend! Ahead there were also more shadow minions. One of which was wreathed in flames and it didn't take long for us to remember the last time we had seen it.  The Fiend tried to make a deal with us and when we rejected it became enraged and began summoning smaller Demons. Luckily old Dwarven runes dispelled them but they still managed to do some damage. Our enemies closed ranks and began launching ranged attacks and throwing explosives at us. Things were going poorly for us and someone nearly got killed due to some lucky critical hits. Things were looking bad and we were talking about retreating when suddenly...

Our Seer snapped out of his vision early. His head throbbed from the Wisdom Damage but it was several hours earlier that day and we hadn't yet been called to the Bloody Stair. He knew what we had to do.

More to come later.
