Bind Astirax
BIND ASTIRAX

Enchantment
Level:
Chan 5/Leg 4
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 Standard Action
Range: See below
Target: 1 astirax
Duration: Instantaneous, see below
Saving Throw: See below
Spell Resistance: Yes

††† The Bind Astirax incantation came about out of necessity; no one can rightly say whether agents of the Shadow divined its initial use, or if those who would not be slaves first discovered the means. Regardless, it is a potent weapon for resistance fighters, but also for Legates who need to enforce their will upon uncooperative astiraxes.
††† There are two methods of targeting this spell: either by a thin, gray beam of eldritch force, or by casting the spell on a missile weapon.
††† If the caster elects to use the ray, he must target a creature/astirax within Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels) range. The caster then makes a ranged touch attack vs the target creatureís AC. An astirax which inhabits a creature struck by the ray must make a Will save (DC 20) or be unable to un-possess the current host it resides in for a number of minutes equal to the caster's level +1d6. If the astirax is not currently possessing a creature, it is still able to move about freely, but cannot possess any new host until the spellís duration expires.
††† If the caster elects to cast the spell onto a missile weapon, then the spellís range is only limited to the range of the weapon firing the enchanted missile. Any creature/astirax struck by a missile so enchanted must make a Will save (DC 21) or suffer the same effects as the ray. Missiles enchanted with this spell only remain enchanted for a number of hours equal to the caster level of the one doing the enchanting. Only one (1) missile may be enchanted per casting.
